Oh oh, pick me!

I'll do a gritty live action reboot on netflix and it will be gloriously twisted seven episodes.

Edward scissorhands meets Slaughterhouse five with a dash of don't look up.

There are two books, Moby Dick and Dune. Slaughterhouse Five is Dune. Europe's Tragedy: The Thirty Years War is Moby Dick. Moby Dick, curiously, is Dune. I will not be explaining further.

“Reagan for President” was already a punchline in 1969 (it’s in Slaughterhouse-Five). I’m optimistic for Dems but I think we should not write off joke candidates 😬

In 2020, I stood in line to vote for so long I had time to read Slaughterhouse Five from cover to cover.

Pandemic, special circumstances, I was more than willing to do it, so it goes.

But nobody should have to do that routinely. Absolutely us voter suppression, and it's SHAMEFUL.

Kurt Vonnegut once posed the idea that there are 6 basic plots that almost all stories follow. In reviewing more than 50,000 books and movies, I found that there's one plot that people love above all others: the crisis, or what Vonnegut called "man in a hole"

Five rednecks kidnap an alien for a spot of backwoods revenge, minus the Deliverence-style buggering, only to discover that abducting an extraterrestrial murder machine is a dumb idea when it turns their farmhouse into an intergalactic slaughterhouse.

My ND brain doesn't really DO rage, but reading Slaughterhouse Five in high school radicalized me against war and warmaking in a way that shapes a huge amount of my politics.
Now I want to know your childhood villain origin story. What radicalised you as a child? What filled you with a rage that lasted a lifetime?
please delight me with your most on-brand story from your childhood

mine is that I quit Cubs after two weeks because it clashed with Coronation Street

I love the foreword to Slaughterhouse Five. Have you read it? It’s entirely about how one can’t show a war bad enough it will not make a single boy go get himself in the next one.

"Jesus - if Kilgore Trout could only write!" Rosewater exclaimed. He had a point: Kilgore Trout's unpopularity was deserved. His prose was frightful. Only his ideas were good.

They do not. Slaughterhouse five if anything from Vonnegut. In my students’ case, “Harrison burgeron” alsongside bradbury’s “the pedestrian”.

I read Slaughterhouse Five years ago and really appreciated it, but I had forgotten that part of the forward (though I remember the general theme of how horrible and unstoppable war is)

This #writingprompt is inspired by Vonnegut's War: The Making of Slaughterhouse-Five by Susan Farrell. Fusing vivid biography with popular history and textual analysis, it tells the story of the making of a modern classic and the writer that created it.

Still haven’t found a book like The Sirens of Titans. Slaughterhouse-five and Galapalogs didn’t do the trick. The search continues
