Good News! Line 2 is completely free of slowzones as of today, and Line 1 has four slowzones which are planned to be removed by the end of the month. Hopefully the system can be slowzone free by the end of the year.

Let’s not forget: Brian Shortsleeve left the MBTA in crisis. Under his watch, service declined and safety suffered. Riders were left with breakdowns, slowzones, delays and dangerous conditions.

Actually, have you seen any of the endurance races? (Le Mans, etc...) They have #SlowZones which is a glorious idea. Race everywhere else, slow zone where the incident occurs.
But yeah, one could wish for a snow race!!!

everyone's always talking about CTA slowzones but never about O'Hare ATS slowzones. when you're going from terminal 5 to the MMF it always slows down to an almost stop at the now-defunct Lot F station and everyone gets trolled into thinking it's their stop

Not as bad looking for Denver RTD has I had worried! Maybe someone here knows the local stats a little more closely? With the slowzones last year it was pretty bad.
Remarkable graph from SMART on their post-covid ridership recovery vs other commuter rail lines around the country.
In real terms SMART has relatively low ridership (~4500 trips/day) compared to some of these agencies, but you can see they're moving in the right direction.

I think either all drivers should get the direct message from race control for things on track bigger than a small debris (dangerous for driver or object), planned or unplanned.
Or they have slowzones, like VSC but for just the few marshal zones before/after.

On a positive note, #TTCLine1 has gotten faster than I remember south of Bloor-Yonge. Today the train is exceeding 40km/hr between each stop.

If a solution is not reached by the end of the spring legislative session, these hits will happen. Slowzones on the CTA will increase, we’ll lose most of the lines, and they’ll most likely be torn up after.

Looking at you Toronto, Slowzones that are treated as just a fact of life, spending billions on Finch for virtually no improvement in travel time, St Clair and Spadina streetcars having their own RoW but being about as fast as parallel bus lines
