A white unicorn has appeared! The "GB Smart Development Kit" was a standalone GameBoy cartridge copier that saved dumped games to FDD, and could load them onto a rumble SmartCard. Really primitive FAT functions that formats as it writes the ROM to 16-sector-per-track High Density FDD only.

feeling normal about the phrase "manage your identity" on the smartcard ID I use for work. especially since it's almost always followed by "authentication failure".

I put a cardboard wedge in my smartcard reader because the smartcard kept falling out when I tried to use it. Today I find I can't get the cardboard out and the card won't go in #Friyay

Realised I brought every Smartcard with me… except my Metro Card 🤦♀️
I've had a few people asking me that, and the answer is no.
Italian transit agencies never went through the "reloadeble smartcard" phase.
They went from plain paper tickets to magnetic ones, then directly to NFC/CC.
Yearly passes were simple paper tickets plastified with a simple passport photo.
