Finally captured the stunning Helix Nebula (NGC 7293), also known as the 'Eye of God,' from 2,200 meters up on Mt. Teide with the #Seestar S50. This planetary nebula, 650 light-years away, reveals its intricate details against the clear dark Tenerife skies.

While I had the big scope on the Moon and Jupiter last night, I had the #Dwarf3 🔭 on IC443, the Jellyfish Nebula. This is 332 x 15s exposures, gain 60, stacked and processed in PixInsight. #astrophotography This is with an LED streetlight some 8 to 10 feet from the smartscope!

The cloud cleared this afternoon, so I went with colleagues to look at comet C/2023 A3. I'd already read that it had faded quite a bit in the previous 2 days, and it was certainly hard to spot. Start of astronomical twilight (Sun 12° below horizon), invisible by eye; not brilliant in 8x40B. 🔭
