wow i wish the job market was like this
Cain had never interviewed anyone in a parking lot before, but there was a first time for everything. Upper management at the restaurant had decided to cut costs on food disposal. Instead of paying premiums to get their unused product hauled away, some analysts determined that it was cheaper to hire an employee to "get rid of" it all. Arrangements were made, orders were handed down the chain, and now Cain was sitting at a desk perched on asphalt, looking at a line made up of the fattest people the gecko had ever seen. "Next!" He called, dismissing a goat who had to be at least seven hundred pounds. The goat got up from his reinforced seat slowly, panting and grasping at his rolls of sweaty belly as if to carry it like a beanbag chair. Nice guy, but Cain wasn't sure if he could stuff down all the food the restaurant produced in a day. Though to be fair, he wasn't sure anyone could. Then he looked up at the next applicant. And up, and up. THOOM. THOOM. THOOM. Cain had distractedly thought the occasional thuds were from far-off construction, but now he realized that they had been the lumbering footsteps of this colossal purple-scaled snake. "N-name?" Cain stammered out. "Hey, nice to meet you! I'm Blake!" The living mountain's cheerful reply came from fifteen feet up. Cain couldn't stop looking it over. It was by far the most enormous creature he had seen today; a bountiful, overflowing purple belly that could probably be stuffed with a whole banquet and growl for more, a heaving chest barely contained by a tent-sized bra, an ass that rose even above its head, and arms so thick and pillowy they were nearly buried rounded the snake out into the picture of gluttonous immensity. It didn't feel possible someone this large could even exist. Cain wasn't sure how Blake could even move, let alone if it could fit into the restaurant. "Uh... nice to meet you." Cain reached his claw out to shake, but he quickly realized there would be no way Blake could reach down with those craterous, roll-laden arms. Instead, he transitioned it into a sweeping gesture. "Why don't you have a seat?" With a vast, sloshing motion, Blake hauled its blubber into the right position and sat down. THOOOOOM. Its sheer weight quaked the ground, sending dust flying. Cain peered around it; yep, the chair was gone. There was no way it could have survived being buried under that much ass. For its part, Blake just beamed, grasping its billowing gut in clear excitement for the interview. "So... what made you interested in this position?" Cain felt like he already knew the answer, but he had to ask. Blake opened its mouth as if to respond, but it paused for a moment. A tremendous, deafening gurgle resounded from its stomach, a GWOORRRGGGLLLL that sent the restaurant's windows quivering, their own flab jiggling, and the many other large bellies in the parking lot rumbling in joint sympathy. "Erm, 'scuse me for one sec..." The massive snake held up a pudgy claw, digging into its belly rolls with the other. After a moment of searching, it pulled out what looked like a barrel, with a label that read EMERGENCY SNACKS. Cain watched, spellbound, while Blake lugged the huge barrel up to its maw and tipped it over. A stream of cakes and pastries flooded out to be summarily gobbled down by the behemoth. Blake ate with practiced efficiency; as crumbs and flecks of pastry flew all over, it became very clear how the snake had gotten so gargantuan in the first place. It finished its "snack" with a BRROUURRRRPPP that shook the whole parking lot. Nonchalantly, Blake picked up where it left off, icing still all over its pudgy face. "So, anyway–" "You're hired." Cain didn't need to see any more. This was the ideal candidate. The only question now was whether the restaurant even produced enough food to keep Blake sated...

I'm so thankful for what @spottnik.bsky.social and SDOT have accomplished in the past few years. As someone who bikes and walks, the city feels like a completely different place. My mom bikes around with me when she visits, she did not used to.

Greg, I wish you the best with whatever comes next!!
