#SocioEcological
Sharing this again with my new connections. It marks a new page in my research, as I zoom into the ontological aspects of our socioecological situation. This is the main theme of the book in press: Socioecological Transformations: Linking
ontologies with structures, personal with collective change.

Wonderful to see such integrative work. I wish we'd have a better overview of the socioecological environments people w mental health probs live in. Automatically equating doing poorly in very poor situations with mental illness is really problematic.

“overparenting within high-income countries presents an underappreciated example of evolutionary mismatch to prevailing socioecological conditions”
New paper out today with Zhian Chen.

We argue that modern intensive parenting is not only exhausting for parents, but in some cases disrupts healthy child development.

What is 'overparenting'? And can evolutionary theory help us understand how we got here?

Abstract. In recent years, childrearing in high-income countries has become described as ‘relentless’ in its demands on parents. In response to growing del

Social relationships are powerful predictors of fitness across social animals. But *why*?

In our new @cp-trendsecolevo.bsky.social paper, we outline testable predictions for why relationship quality and quantity adaptively vary across socio-ecological contexts.

This is great research! It shows with data that a lot of what we hear about the "unpopularity" of radical socioecological ideas is not about people, but rather the lack of popularity with mainstream policymakers and market agents.
There's a lot of ground on which to build!
I'm excited to announce this new study, published in The Lancet Planetary Health, which explores public support for degrowth and ecosocialist transformation. The findings are quite surprising.
