💾 What makes research data useful to others?

Senckenberg’s Claus Weiland, Robert Brylka and Alex Wolodkin introduce the concept behind the SoilTracker Hub, our planned FAIR data infrastructure, which would package data in AI-ready form that both humans and computers can work with.

🌱 What should we measure to capture soil impacts?

@efieuropeanforest.bsky.social leads WP1, which works that out, picking indicators of soil health and mapping how land is used. It also runs soil sampling and builds the SoilTracker Hub to bring data and models together.

🧩 Fieldwork, trade flows, models and stakeholder workshops, all in a single project. Jo Van Brusselen of EFI, our coordinator, shows how the pieces connect.

What ties them together? SoilTracker, our planned framework for weighing up how bio-based products consumed in the EU affect soil.

Hi Bluesky 👋 We’re SoilChains, an EU-funded project exploring how the coffee, cocoa, soy and wood the EU buys affect soil where they’re grown.

🌱 Over four years, we’ll build SoilTracker to measure that. Later this month, we meet in Frankfurt for our kick-off. Follow along for updates!
