Watching the shadow of the eclipse progress through a colander or a pin-prick in a piece of cardboard over a sheet of white paper also works.

Please forgive me for saying so, but these WARNINGS to "NOT look straight at the Sun at ANY TIME, even when partially eclipsed, without certified #SolarEclipseGlasses or another approved filter", that are apparently obligatory these days, are "overkill".
