Illiana is Thavnarian (Mixed with Dalmascan and Steppe) so I've always said she'd be from north India/Pakistan.
Darius would be from France because of Ishgard but he'd be a French-Pakistani kid with some of the Nordic countries mixed in there so like... French-Indian/Pakistani-Nordic.

For Darius. I chose his name because of the meaning behind it, "Holding firm the good" which is what I would image the Sisters in Ishgard gave him since he wasn't brought to them with a name....

So! The name Altair Nioux is literally night themed. Altair is brightest star in the Aquila constellation! Nioux is me mashing the French word for night (Nuit) and the traditional Elezen endings for surnames! Hence his sword being designed the way that it is!
