#Songmakers
I’m not a country music fan by any stretch, but when I was in elementary school in the early 70s my mother dabbled in listening to the local station for a few years. The duos are the songmakers I always remember: Conway & Loretta, George & Tammy… and, of course, Porter & Dolly.

Yoooo! Cri-Cri! Literally the last artist I expected to see here, but one of the most impactful songmakers in Latin America!

Basically every family has at least one person that knows of his songs, and they'd even play a couple of them in schools!

Really nice find~

Back in 1947
Chuck flew a jet
Made a sonic boom

Others than us
Are loud as jet engines
Whales down deep
Singings songs
That make water reverberate
For hundreds of miles

Plastic bags
Will kill the song
A comic named Sonic
Will outlive
The
Boneshaking
Songmakers

liking her as a person (or an aesthetic) but not musically is just proof you were listening to music before like 2010 and can't be swayed by the samesounds vibe everyone is putting out these days

I feel the same about olivia rodrigo, they're both more music video artists than exceptional songmakers

I'm always suprised when I see the aprappreciation of (old) german songmakers from german rappers. Like the Haftbefehl Reinhard Mey thing. Not sure of it has something to do with getting older and realizing that your parents actually had some taste in music.

Where are all kindhearted the #artists and the #poets and the #songmakers? Say hi!

That happens. Some time ago I read that it's known that the first 30 seconds are the most important in songs as we listen to them now. That's why big label "product songmakers" try to introduce what they call the "song hook" in those first 30 seconds. Seems we are impatient. Maybe has nothing to do.

Difficult choice re Poulenc. I used her 'Les chemins de l'amour' for another much-missed friend, Prokofiev Archive head Noëlle Mann. On the Songmakers' Almanac disc, my favourite Poulenc/Apollinaire was sung by Anthony Rolfe Johnson, also gone too soon. FLott sings it here. Text essential, follows.

Blessed are the songmakers. Having a laugh, organising an outfit & talking god with gospel's funky deliverers Annie & The Caldwells. Maybe conversion's still possible for us. “Because it’s a groove. Because it’s the words & the music that put a pep in your step.”

WELL, THIS IS A BIT WEIRD, and I don’t mean a long conversation about gospel music in 2025 with two women who laugh often and with such joy that you too might start to believe just for the pleasure.Pe...

"Manmade" is a bit disingenuous since her rise is obviously the end result of the immense support she has received from songmakers and fans so more "societymade" over her technical origins.

Rick Beato on AI songwriters (songmakers might be a better term).

It's interesting how the more he likes it, the more worried he looks...

will spend the rest of my enfeebled morning thinking of how verrot's love of all songmakers has brought him to bugs and birds. how he climbs the spires every morning to listen to the birds as they wake in the wind. the beauty in watching the songbird eat the singing cricket, etc. feeding the doves.
