About 3 days into September, I remembered about Songtember, my yearly playlist I make. So decided not to bother this year.
But I will make a short list, in no particular order, of songs that would have definitely made the cut.
Will provide youtube and Spotify links.

Songtember is an annual challenge for composers where everyday in the month of September you have to make a short sketch of a song inspired by that day’s theme. The purpose of the challenge is to get better at coming up with musical ideas, and to explore styles you may not have otherwise. TIPS: Your songs do not have to be long or complicated or even finished really! Just a piano sketch, a tiny loop, or anything else simple is okay. These are only meant to be small explorations of ideas, after all. PS. If I'm being honest this is really more a personal challenge but I’d be absolutely ecstatic if you joined me. If you do end up participating (or even just do one prompt you like) remember to use the hashtags :D #Songtember #Songtember2026

...Did any of you truly think I would do Songtember and not include @meriamber.bsky.social ?
I was saving her for the 30th as part of Streamversary.
New music releasing soon but going to an older fave, 'She's Blue (Eiffel 65 Parody)'

...and I'm back to being late with the posts again...
Really this month has been dancing through, so today we're 'Dancing Through Life' with the Wicked movie soundtrack for Songtember 28th. Less than 2 months til part 2!

Look at me, not leaving Songtember 27th til last minute...
I'm a tad on the sleep deprived side, and this has been recommended more than once by others and the algorithm so an easy choice for today.

A now late Songtember 26th as I played 'where did that post go?' for yesterday's song.
And slightly cheating again by including a song by Peggy, but 'Character Development' is a solo rather than a collab, and she's cool. So there 😜

Being a people pleaser is not healthy and I've definitely been working on those tendencies I had for way too long. I can even say 'no' to people!

I went bowling today, so we get Bowling For Soup as the artist for Songtember 23rd. So many great songs (their song Today Is Going to Be a Great Day is famous as the Phineas & Ferb theme), but chose 'This Ain't My Day'

I love when there's a bunch of shiny new releases by artists I enjoy.
From the powerful voice that brought us 'Labour' last year, we have the latest from Paris Paloma, 'Good Boy', already in repeat for Songtember 20th.

I'm only late for Songtember 19th because work went way longer than it should have.
Considering I knew I'd be sharing something from the new @arrowsinaction.bsky.social album, maybe I should have posted sooner.

I was *going* to pick one of the newer Linkin Park songs to properly honour their visit to Australia next year, but since I had a bunch of blood tests today, I kind of jumped back to 2007 with 'Bleed It Out' for Songtember 15th.

("Stray.wav" by $undown!) A character depicted as a strange but weirdly cute, armless bunny alien(?) With a dress with three buttons. Her ears are long and wide, it appears that she has a halo above her head. (She/her) ("Untrust Us" by Crystal Castles!) A character depicted as very small microplankton being inside of a big bubble, levitating around a big vent with three boxes. (They/them) ("Resonance" by HOME!) A character depicted as a tall, beautiful wolf, he has markings on his face, arms, and a big tail. The tail and his long mane are covering the rest of his body, like that one Venus painting. (He/they) ("I Can't Decide" by Scissor Sisters!) A character depicted as colorful, wide clown with a quirky behavior. He has a bright colorful patterns on his clothes, a big fluffy mane, he wields a big axe next to him with a creepy grin that bares a sharp teeth with a tongue sticking out. (He/it)

A song and artist recommended by a friend, on a day I was on a drive with another friend - so the title screamed perfect Songtember 14th.
Plus it's a terrific song.
