Who knew? In the early 1980s, long before the first DAW, a Lucasfilm team built the SoundDroid w/ a touchscreen, graphic waveform display, non-destructive editing & a realtime ASP audio signal processor. Matteo Milani's new book DROIDS reveals the untold story — and it’s available today for FREE!
1985: a small team at Lucasfilm presented the SoundDroid at SMPTE in Los Angeles. Sound as a waveform on screen, edited on disk. Only one was ever built.
DROIDS, a free book about the people who made it, out 31 October.
