“I don’t use soundfonts, I use elephonts!” Said the Elephant. The zoo was closed that day so everyone could finish laughing

Kobolds I might be working on a new song. My new soundfonts have given me strength and that strength is sonic CD chord piano.

Going to start calling genres "soundfonts" to further dilute the term more than it already is. I love listening to Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso, which was made with the pop soundfont

This is how you do it, by simply NOT using soundfonts.

I think. I have gotten a plugin working that lets me use soundfonts in GarageBand. So that’s cool. Now I just need to get a bunch of soundfonts. I know where to get them but anyone have any suggestions? So far I’ve got drawn to life (of course) mother 3 (of course) and some sonic ones.

This is what makes playing around with sound hardware/drivers and soundfonts so much fun in DOS/Windows games.

Here with the Yamaha SoftSynth for 1998 FF7 PC, it sounds overall like what you're used to, but differences all over the place make it sound like some parallel world rendition.

soundfonts were used when memory was precious

artists today use them because memories are precious

Still mucking about with soundfonts. Did the harmony with step-editing and the lead live. Learning lots as I poke around.

Years ago I ripped all Quest 64's music data and applied modern soundfonts (my goal was to upload a full "orchestral" OST to youtube). I decided to add little jokey animations to each track, but I got carried away, which doomed the project to never be completed.

Here's the battle theme.

Spent a little while messing around with SNES soundfonts while learning a bit about FL Studio tonight. This was sequenced by hand since I learned this one on the piano not too recently!

pretending that there are "soundfonts" for things that don't use sample banks is infinitely funny to me
December 10, 2024 at 5:33 AM
it is pretty funny that i got my start in game music writing & recording with an orchestra, and fate would have me never working w/ an orchestral budget again. it would be really cool to be able to do that some time, if given the chance. feels like a muscle atrophying, even if i do love soundfonts

something i used to enjoy doing when i was younger was recording MIDIs with different soundfonts and then mashing the results together with some added reverb to get a real big wall of sound. here's symphony.mid, a sample file that probably came with my AWE32, with three different soundfonts
