Here are some #Southsea #watercolour drawings from 50 years ago. G and I needed temporary accommodation before spending a year in Manchester and we had a wonderful time in a rented flat in Kent Road. I did these from the window plus others and will always treasure them. The building is Brankesmere.

A couple of old watercolour drawings done on Southsea beach, possibly on the same day looking in opposite directions. The first one has South Parade Pier and the second shows the mound that is part of the fortifications of Southsea Castle.

Two paintings of mine from the 1970s showing coastal plants growing on Eastney beach (still have these). I think they show the influence of Graham Sutherland who was a favourite artist of mine.

While I'm on the subject of Southsea, here's a watercolour I did sitting on the slope near Southsea Castle in 1995. The building in the centre is the D-Day Museum and the the tall war memorial is on the left. Portsmouth cathedral is on the skyline to the right
