I haven't squared away the time to watch @patrickhwillems.bsky.social new video yet. I expect I'll disagree on at least a few points, I've seen decent movies on streaming - but people pre-deciding he MUST be *completely* wrong because Saint Zack of The Speedramp works for Netflix are being ABSURD

Interior Starcade photo I took in summer 1997. Instant delete with a digital camera, but enough outlines of Disneyland history to preserve now. And I think I became friends with the Custodial Cast Member a few years later?

It makes some sense, there were other Goodyear-shaped elements planned around the station area but never built. The T Hee dioramas on the speedramp were that shape.

After many years of looking, I have *finally* stumbled upon a photo capturing the Brava Centauri Disneyland seen in the background on Horizons. On the left you can see the distinctive shapes of a Town Square, Hub, and Space Mountain complete with trapezoidal concourse and speedramp entrance!

That's closer to how it was at the NY World's Fair. You had to walk up a ramp (not a speedramp, unfortunately) to get to the boarding level.

Odd choice for the 1959 newspaper supplement to include the Matterhorn and Submarine Voyage, but no graphics for the Disneyland-Alweg Monorail System—only a small textual notation for "SPEEDRAMP."

(Ah, I was wrong about being completely empty; there’s a single butler CM in the Haunted Mansion video, solely to give the “dead centre, away from the walls” spiel in the stretching room, and boy is he trying to fade into the background otherwise, and a couple of maid CMs at the loading speedramp)

Weird (but authentic!) mashup from 2000 that makes it seem like you'll get on Splash Mountain in 45 minutes if only you go through the turnstiles down and then down the Haunted Mansion exit speedramp.
