you see the lower-stakes version of this all the time in spiderkeeping and it makes me furious, those animals are better off not handled at all (tarantulas are so fragile) but Macho Idiots Gotta Macho and they make all of us look bad.

Would anyone (UK) like to adopt a #spider? Friend works in a pet shop and found a Cricket Thief spider (Thanatus vulgaris) in a bug shipment.
Presumably thieving crickets.
Non-native so can't be released - but free pet for anyone who keeps spiders?
