Anything to justify the thing they'd rather folks didn't know. Ive seen disclosures with the most ridiculously mundane shit but they couldn't for code that 'allowed them to release on time'?

If they believed they were in the right they'd be upfront and say it with their whole chest on steam.

The Devs of #SpiritCrossing REALLY don't like to hear opinions on their AI useage, hiding it and defending it with "everyone else does it" using a sus report from an AI company as a basis.

@steampowered.com There's nothing that breaks TOS here.
You have been banned from Spirit Crossing Community Hub You have been banned from Spirit Crossing Community Hub by a Spirit Crossing developer for your post in "AI usage": This is just sad at this point. Yall are going down in gaming history as liars who use AI & then defend it by saying "everyone else does it!". This is a moral issue and you've failed every chance you've been given to at least admit you were in the wrong. Instead you've quadrupled down. It's a really vile look when talking about something that uses Drinking Water, has a huge death toll already and is destroying communities all over the world. This is one of the hardest self-owns Ive seen in a while & yall should rethink your stance on both AI and continuing to make cozy games, because there's nothing cozy about using a fascist machine that's fueling genocide worldwide. Originally posted by WyldWish: Justifications can't unring a bell. Ban Reason: While this ban is active, you will not be able to post or comment in the Spirit Crossing Community Hub or upload new content to this community hub. If you believe this ban was issued by mistake, please contact Steam Support. This is a permanent ban.

This was a #SpiritCrossing dev explaining why the #CozyGame doesnt contain an AI useage label despite using it to make the game & having stated it would not have released without AI usage.

"Everyone does it" is not a reasonable reason to engage in helping the torment nexus feed on our suffering.
Chedd [developer] Oct 28 @ 11:04am I will repeat: Valve has explicitly stated that the AI disclosure is for user-facing content like art, sound, etc. The disclosure is explicitly NOT intended to be used for things like code editing. If you believe the latest reports, 94% of studios are using AI in various ways[www.videogameschronicle.com]; nowhere near 94% of studios are using the Steam disclosure, precisely for this reason. As we have also said before: unfortunately, many people do not understand the Steam disclosure rules, and consequently, if you DO use Valve's disclosure, many people will immediately assume that your game incorporates genAI content (again, things such as art, sound and narrative writing.) I would genuinely prefer if Valve did require our limited usage of AI to be disclosed. Then many other developers would need to disclose as well, and then maybe, just maybe, there would no longer be an assumption that an AI disclosure == AI content. But that is unfortunately not the reality of the situation today. The accusation that we are "hiding", when we are literally one of the only developers publicly discussing our AI usage DESPITE not being required by Valve to do so, is simply unfair. I understand why people who are vehemently anti-AI wish that everyone using it would use the Steam disclosure. But that's not how the disclosure is intended to work, and if you are telling us you don't like it, you are telling the wrong people. We don't make those rules.

Also, for those of us who live in #Alberta, this is very much an appropriate Mood right now. (Heck, probably for most of us anywhere in the world right now.) 🔥😢

PS - you may have missed the burning bear, but come try #SpiritCrossing on Steam - currently free! store.steampowered.com/app/2321960/...
Screenshot from the end days of the Feast of Bears event in Spirit Crossing. There is an enormous burning straw bear in the background surrounded by buildings; the straw bear's arms are flung wide and half the bear has been reduced to just support timbers surrounded by smoke and flames; only the lower half of it is still intact. In front of the burning bear is a photo standee that looks like a large square bear its arms flung wide (one holding a doughnut). The bear standee has a face hole cut out, through which is peering the player's human avatar. There is a contribution box on the left side and various containers of popcorn around the center and right of the photos.

And just like that, it's the last day of The Feast of Bears in #SpiritCrossing. The Feasting has been feasted, the rainbow popcorn has been popped, the traditional hibernation has been observed, and the straw bear has gone up in flames. Time to put this event - and the bears - to bed till next year!
Screenshot from early in the Feast of Bears event in Spirit Crossing: An enormous straw bear standing on a stone platform surrounded by metal fencing and lit candles. Around the platform are a variety of bears, tents with bear ears, stone bear sculptures, and other bear-related decorations. Screenshot from near the end of the Feast of Bears event in Spirit Crossing: the remains of an enormous straw bear standing on a stone platform, surrounded by metal fencing. The bear is now on fire and half burned down. The lower half is still intact but the upper half is just flames and smoke around wooden support beams. Around the platform are a variety of bears, tents with bear ears, stone bear sculptures, and other bear-related decorations. The candles from the previous screenshot are all gone, and there are now spectator bears on the stone platform admiring the burning bear. Screenshot from the final day of the Feast of Bears event in Spirit Crossing: A large stone platform with some fences surrounding a large pile of brown ash, from which huge plumes of grey smoke drift upwards. Around the platform are a variety of bears, tents with bear ears, stone bear sculptures, and other bear-related decorations. There are spectator bears on the stone platform admiring the ashes.
