There is actually a serious consideration here, what kind of rack are you gonna get? I always stand by Blackburn, because, among other things, the solid back works as a fender/splashguard. Or as a very light table to strap things to.

Same concept, but the top plugs in. The beauty is that the bottom is a container and removable double blade that are easily washed, plus a cover that is both a splashguard and can be used to store stuff in the container (with the blades removed). Super basic, but it just works.

I bit the bullet and purchased a new front wing and splashguard for the Focus today. Lasted 14 years but the rust was bubbling the paint so needs replacing xD i don't care if the silver isnt a perfect match due to the car being old. I care about my car not rusting!
