It's: overpriced. Some of the bosses, particularly in the late game, are ridiculously spongy (not especially difficult, just spongy). The writing isn't as Marvel Smug(tm) or unnatural as I feared. IMO that aspect is much better than the latest Spider-Man from Insomniac.

My own takes on SpongeBob's lookalikes (the sleezy tough Drifter and the teenaged valley-accented Girly Teengirl). I think they both pulled off the gag well imo. ^^

A lot of the parks have that spongy rubber stuff, too. I think it’s probably a combo of both things you mentioned, safety and sanitary reasons.
