We knocked this year’s #SpringCleanUpWeek out of the park!💚 We nearly doubled last year’s impact, and it showed in every cleanup, conversation, and connection.

Final totals:

🏫22 schools, rec centers & green spaces cleaned
Part of the Columbia Heights Cleanup Crew gathers around picked up litter at Columbia Heights Civic Plaza. Brad counts and weighs trash in Columbia Heights. The South Manor Neighborhood Association - Washington DC and the University of the District of Columbia’s National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association Chapter host our final cleanup by DC Bilingual, the MBT, and Fort Totten.

Takoma was bustling and we're so happy to have contributed.
Neighbors gather at Takoma Theater as we prepare to clean the area. Laurence and Victor chat with Shirley before the cleanup. Main Street Takoma organized Music in the Park that morning. There were lines at Donut Run, Lost Sock, and Joint Custody! Plus we had our largest cleanup turnout with 39 volunteers. Huge thank you to Sabina's Cafe for donating refreshing cold drinks, sliders, and parfaits. They were so welcoming and kind!

So much community care at yesterday's East Rock Creek Village + @lwvdc.bsky.social + DC Fire Dept + Ledo Pizza #SpringCleanUpWeek cleanup!💚

We've welcomed 199 volunteers + collected 310 bags (1,585 lbs!) of litter.

From voter registration to helping students apply for jobs, we showed up.
Cleanup participants gather by the fire station with a big collection of litter bags. Ann and the League of Women Voters help a student to register to vote. Shelley and Calvin chat. We're grateful for East Rock Creek Village and the Fire Department! Cleanup participants gather at Ledo Pizza. It was amazing and festive.

Day 1 of #SpringCleanUpWeek was 💥!

We kicked off with a field trip to Ward 8 Woods to clean litter + identify invasive species, then gathered for food at Sycamore & Oak.
Nathan Harrington of Ward 8 Woods gives background information on the group's work and impact to a group of volunteers. Participants learn how to use the iNaturalist app to catalogue invasive species. Sycamore & Oak is popping for the Blossom Block Festival. So many good vendors!
