I was picking up my buddy Ian to go to the pool in the SquidMobile this morning. A man walking by asked what the deal with the squidmobile was. We chatted for a minute and he asked how I fund Skype a Scientist and I said "Well... $5-20 donations at a time, mostly" and he handed me $20!

The Squidmobile's alternator is shot, which is fine, we can fix that. Nobody tell my dad. He's been telling me I need to get rid of the Squidmobile for years, and I will not today, I will not tomorrow, I will not abandon the squidmobile until she putts her last putt.

I took the squidmobile to the shop. The mechanic parked her a couple of blocks away, and on my walk home I went past where she was parked. This dude was walking in the middle of the street on the other side of her, and said to himself “The Squidmobile. Heh heh. Yeah. I love calamari.”

Sometimes when I’m making a left turn and I see a driver taking in the squidmobile and smirking, I give ‘em a little wink just to give them a little something extra to talk about.
