Stack Ranking - it is super easy to dismiss and people hate it thinking of how Microsoft did it with managers - but at Valve when peers did it - it made sense... but equally... i hated it.

Curious to anyone seeing a better solution? No managers, no roles.

For me, given my many years at the megacorp, the suggestion that stackranking was partially--at least--responsible for a decade or so of crappy decision making at the top is challenging. IMHO, many of the critical decisions 2002-2009 were very top decisions, not middling. But.
