One reason I hate the word fan and the modern concept of fandom is that it's absolutely devoid of actually engaging with media.
If you post anything critical or jokeful about a piece of media you will get someone in the replies tag searching the topic reciting mantras why it's good.

I talk a big game about how broad a successful antifascist coalition must be, how the Democratic Party can only be successful if it's a big tent...but Kobe standom is inherently antithetical to liberal democracy. These are not our allies.
