The Australian four-piece return today with NEXT2U, a soaring rock track that turns the traditional love song sideways, aiming it squarely at the friends who make somewhere feel like home. Out now via Virgin Music Group, NEXT2U wrestles with the strange push and pull of life on the road. Bonnie Fraser writes about missing the people left behind while travelling the world with another group of best friends, wrapping that homesickness around an earworm chorus, heavy drums and rough-edged guitars.

Stand Atlantic have dropped new single ‘EDGE OF VEGAS’, the latest taste of their forthcoming fifth album ‘GODBREATH’, due October 23 via Virgin Music Group. There’s an immediacy to ‘EDGE OF VEGAS’ that suits a band increasingly uninterested in staying within alt-rock’s prescribed lanes. A huge melodic hook sits at its centre, but underneath it Stand Atlantic are writing about something considerably less carefree: that point where ambition, momentum and the need to keep moving begin to tip into exhaustion. For vocalist Bonnie Fraser, the song also reflects a change in how she approached ‘GODBREATH’.

Stand Atlantic are taking GODBREATH home, announcing their biggest Australian headline tour to date for October and November with US pop-punk favourites Knuckle Puck joining them for the ride. The Sydney four-piece will kick off The Godbreath Tour at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on October 23, the same day their new album GODBREATH arrives via Virgin Music Group. From there, they head to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, Melbourne’s Forum, Adelaide’s Hindley St Music Hall and Perth’s Metropolis. For a band that has spent much of the past decade steadily expanding its footprint outside Australia, the run is a sizeable homecoming.
