Terran science is so anachronistic. Because of the Starpod they have virtually no cosmology, but Kristen and Clooney specialized in high-energy physics. This civilization probably got quantum field theory before universal gravitation.

After rewatching PV4, Retracing Our Steps missed the chance to end with the observatory reporting, "Look, the stars. They're closer now, aren't they?" The Starpod scrambles star patterns (per Kristen) to hide Terra, so it would've been more ominous than the meteor simply announcing impending doom.

I also had to look up the basic info about the Starpod (and made sure not to spoil myself by looking at the wiki footnotes on where things are referenced from) (why the hell is some integral lore stuck in OPERATOR MODULES) so I understand the nature of that now. Just not why it exists

it makes me Thinky about the general timeline, since at the time terrans go back to talos-ii: 1) rhodes island and warfarin still exist, 2) the starpod is perhaps opened? 3) The Doom(TM) was either prevented or survived, 4) oripathy was still bad. all of which I struggle to coincide in my head

You're right, or "newly found originium mine in- Oh no it's spreading. It's uncontrollable". The only conclusion I came to, Roland Emmerich aside, is that Starpod theory could very much lead to creation of a modified Chicken Little when it was still new.

I was NOT expecting Path of Life's story to be that INSANELY PLOT RELEVANT, holy shit. Apparently this all takes place a year after Lone Trail, so we're seeing a Terra that's used to the hole in the starpod, which is really neat. NPCs talk about it so casually when it felt so important in lonetrail
