"Gale… are you asking me to marry you?" "I suppose I am," Gale admitted. "Tara would be delighted, not to mention my mother." Elenion stared at him. And then he laughed. It was a startled, breathless sound, slipping out before he could stop it. Not because Gale had done anything wrong. But because somehow, the answer felt so obvious that the realization itself was almost funny. Yes, he wanted to say. Of course I'll marry you. But they'd only met four months ago. Four short months ago, he'd still been a man who believed true love was for fools. Who'd built a reputation for leaving hearts broken and lovers behind, and would've found the idea of him marrying anyone at all completely absurd. Today, he knew with absolute certainty that he wanted to marry Gale. Not someday. Not eventually. Now. Gods, what had this man done to him? Gale's smile faltered. For a heartbeat, something like panic flashed across his face. "Oh gods," Elenion said quickly. "No, sweetheart. Don't worry. I'm not laughing at you. Never at you." He pressed a hand over his mouth, but that only made another laugh escape. "It's just…" He shook his head. "Four months. We've known each other for four months, and you spent part of it flirting with me and—and pulling away every time I thought you might actually mean it. Back then, I'd have laughed in your face if you'd said the word marriage. And now I'm—" His laughter caught in his throat as he looked at Gale. Gale blinked. His expression softened with understanding. "Hm… It's been four months officially, perhaps," he said with a tentative smirk. "Though you know very well I had been trying to find my way to you long before we ever met." Elenion laughed again, relief spilling into tears. He remembered the stories Gale told of the performances he'd seen over the years, from the Yawning Portal to the Blackstaff Ball. The attempts he'd made to approach Elenion afterward, fascinated by his bardic craft, only to find that the Wandering Star of the Sword Coast had already disappeared into the night. And then Mystra had cast Gale aside, and he had retreated into his tower, leaving Elenion to become nothing more than a missed opportunity. Until the nautiloid took them both. Until finally, finally, they found each other. "Listen, dearest," Gale continued. "We need not speak of marriage yet if your heart isn't ready. I'd be just as happy without such ceremony as long as we're together. But I cannot, and will not, allow you to slip from my grasp once more." Elenion let out a teary laugh and leaned forward, pressing his hand to Gale's cheek. "I wasn't planning on going anywhere, babe." He took a shaky breath. "And yes. Gods, yes, I want to marry you, Gale Dekarios. You wonderful, ridiculous man." "You do?" Gale said, grinning so widely it made Elenion's heart skip. "Oh, thank goodness for that!" "But…" Elenion squeezed his hand. "You still haven't actually asked me." Gale blinked. "I beg your pardon?" "You heard me." Elenion smiled through his tears. "Ask me properly. I want to hear you say it." Gale paused for a beat. His expression softened, and his thumb brushed over Elenion's knuckles. "Very well," he said. He took a breath, meeting Elenion's eyes. Then he slowly sank to one knee, still holding Elenion's hand in his. "Elenion Silverdew… Will you marry me?" "Yes," Elenion whispered. "Yes, I'll marry you." "Then you'll make me a very happy man," Gale said softly. "We'll need time to make the arrangements, of course—the Dekarios clan is scattered far and wide, and you'll have invites of your own to send out, I'm sure…" Elenion let a few more quiet tears of joy slip down his cheeks, catching them hastily with the back of his hand. "Maybe a few," he whispered, his voice trembling with laughter and awe. Gale laughed softly. "But that's all to come." He squeezed Elenion's hand. "The day is young, and there are thousands more days ahead—and if four months brought us here, just think what the rest will hold." He pressed a soft, reverent kiss to Elenion's knuckles before rising again. Then he cradled their tear-streaked cheek in his palm and tilted his head. Their lips met in a lingering, tender kiss, and Elenion melted into it.

Got a new fic to share today! It's 5.3k words of #Starweave smut with plenty of feelings. Mind the tags, there is a lot going on here while Gale and Elenion absolutely defile Len's museum.

The last of my pride month series! This ended up being the only one where, in the present day scenes, they're engaged but not married yet. There's also an act 2 flashback I had fun writing.

This one is just them having some silly, sweet sex. 💗 It's also, somehow, the only time I've ever mentioned Elenion's intense hatred of Volo in a fic... 1k words.

Trying to make more of an effort to share my writing WIPs here. This is a bit lengthy, but it's the opening of a fic I'm slowly working on where Elenion learns about all the times Gale remembers seeing him perform before they actually met. 💙

#Elenion ✨ #GaleDekarios #Starweave #BG3Fic #StarWrites
Night had settled over the camp, the sky clear and filled with stars. Elenion sat a comfortable distance from the fire, its light flickering softly over the celestial inlays of his lute resting beside him. He was supposed to be on watch, but with nothing of note stirring beyond the trees, he’d spent the quiet drafting song lyrics in his journal instead. Or trying to, at least. Gale knew my name immediately, he wrote, not for the first time. Not unusual. He's from Waterdeep. It would've been stranger if he didn't recognize me. He's seen me perform… So what? Half of Faerûn has seen me perform at least once. Wyll has too. It doesn't matter. It absolutely does not matter. So why in the hells am I still thinking about it? He scratched the last line out too hard, the ink blotting into a little black star across the page. This wasn’t how I expected to finally meet Elenion Silverdew, Gale had said the first time they met. After quite literally collapsing on top of him from a portal Elenion definitely shouldn't have touched. And somehow, days later, he hadn't stopped thinking about it. Worse, he couldn't stop thinking about the way Gale said his name—as if Elenion himself mattered more than "The Wandering Star of the Sword Coast" did. Or the way Gale had spent these last few days treating him less like a famous bard he admired, and more like… a fellow scholar. A friend. But he'd said finally. As if he'd been hoping to meet Elenion for a long time. So, then, why was he acting like it was nothing? Did Gale find him less impressive up close than he was onstage? Was he disappointed? He exhaled sharply through his nose. The lyrics weren’t coming. Every thought kept circling the same infuriating point. With a muttered curse, he set the journal aside and reached for his lute. He had to stop this line of thinking somehow—and if the words wouldn't behave, maybe the melody would. His fingers found the strings almost before he’d thought to guide them, slipping instinctively into an old tavern tune he hadn’t played in years. “Interesting choice for the middle of the night,” Gale said, a hint of amusement in his voice as he stepped into the firelight. Elenion's fingers froze. Gods, he had completely forgotten Gale was on night watch duty as well. A faint flush warmed his cheeks. "…I didn't realize I had an audience," he said, forcing a casual shrug. He tried not to dwell on the sheer absurdity of Gale appearing the moment he’d been trying to stop thinking about him. "Hearing this melody again always takes me back.” The smirk on Gale's lips softened into something more thoughtful. “I first heard it played by a most remarkable bard.” Elenion arched a brow. “Oh? And who was this mysterious bard?” Gale eased himself down beside Elenion. “I think the answer might surprise you. Care to hear the story?" "…Go on," Elenion said after a pause. He couldn't help feeling a little irritated by how quickly his curiosity had won. "It all started at The Yawning Portal in Waterdeep," Gale began, his voice dropping into the cadence of a storyteller. "A tavern alive with laughter and wanderers, crowded with rugged folk and echoing voices—" His words were cut off with a chuckle. "Sorry," Elenion said, covering his mouth with his hand, "but are you really going to turn this into a bardic epic?” Gale gasped in mock offense. “Come now,” he protested. “A bit of dramatic flourish is hardly a crime, don't you think? You of all people should appreciate an artfully told tale.” Elenion rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips. "I suppose you're right. Continue, then." Gale cleared his throat. “In that case… let me paint you a picture.” “In the center of that joyful chaos,” he continued, “there stood a bard who moved like he owned the stage. A half-elf with platinum hair, bright in the dim tavern light—” Gale’s lips curved into a smirk—“surrounded by stardust, his every smile wicked, every gesture so deliberate it felt as though the whole room danced at his command.” Elenion's breath caught. "Wait," he said, huffing a quiet laugh. "You're talking about me." "You caught on quickly," Gale said with a smug grin. “I should’ve known,” Elenion replied, a teasing lilt in his voice. “You did call the bard most remarkable, after all.”

i actually wrote that scene from gale's POV first, hehe. the idea is that gale got taken by the nautiloid but len didn't, and they meet later—a concept i love, but idk if i'll ever continue it since i feel like i'd have to write a longfic to explore it properly.
