Its somewhat forgotten that Starmer said that (and sometimes said he never said it). This was a strong statement about racism on Sept 30th, having badly fumbled government's response to the Tommy Robinson march on Sept 13th-15th, and then started to make the argument over the next week/fortnight

He took the party from the worst defeat in living memory to number 10 in 4 years, this is what he delivered in 2 years in office. If you're so blinded by your dislike of Starmer you're incapable of acknowledging his achievements you're not worth a nano second of my time.

And yet the Starmer GOVERNMENT (or to use traditional jargon, the Starmer ministry) was unpopular - we refer to government’s by Prime Minister in this country. You couldn’t yourself have been referring to anything but the Starmer government because you referred to Burnham’s “inheritance”.

It's perhaps worth recognising how much worse things could've been had Starmer not removed from the Independent Football Regulator legislation the Tory's requirement that ownership tests "have regard to the government's foreign and trade policy." Burnham can genuinely plead the IFR's independence.

The Starmer achieved nothing brigade are out and about today, I make absolutely no apology for posting these again. This isn't just disrespectful to Starmer but to all the Labour MP's who made this happen in just 2 years, ignoring these achievements is a kick in the face to everyone involved.

'It will go down in history as the Starmer government’s shame.' Have they updated this to reflect the Burnham gov's implementation of segregation and exclusion or not that it's their own party & gov implementing the biggest rights roll-back ever?
Today the new Code of Practice comes into force, systematically excluding trans people from public facilities and services across the UK.

It will go down in history as the Starmer government’s shame.

But it’s not too late for Andy Burnham to change course.

There's indication of a break from the outright contempt for life on Earth displayed by Reeves and Starmer it's a sharp contrast from pulling out of the TFFF and having a go at bats.

Oh ffs, can we not leave Starmer in peace and what a cheap shot. I'll judge Burnham on what he delivers not how good his speeches are, just as I did with Starmer. Missed by so many people in the media and beyond is the enormous amount Starmer delivered in under 2 years. A reminder.

It's better written than most Starmer apologism, as you would expect from Alan, but it's too defensive to admit why the voters is criticises as solely expressive were angry and this is most notable in how little it says about racism and the government's refusal to condemn it.

Former Labour minister urges faster economic growth focus in Burnham government
A former cabinet minister under Sir Keir Starmer has criticized Andy Burnham's government for not focusing sufficiently on boosting economic growth, calling for more urgency in addressing this issue. Peter Kyle, who served as business secretary during Starmer's premiership before being dismissed in Burnham's cabinet reshuffle, stated that while he was not making a 'criticism', he was highlighting the potential for prosperity through economic growth. He emphasized that if the government's destination is prosperity, freedom for people to innovate, and security for families, then they should 'put their foot down and get there quicker.' Kyle suggested that the government might need to delay certain workers' rights expansions to prioritize short-term economic growth, and proposed implementing a 'tax growth test' to measure the economic impact of tax policies. The former minister also called for reviewing 'obstacles' to growth and acting with greater ambition. This criticism comes as Labour prepares for its annual conference in Liverpool, where Burnham will address the gathering on Tuesday. Burnham has previously outlined his 'clear theory of growth' based on his experience as Greater Manchester mayor, advocating for devolving powers to local areas to create 'good growth in every postcode.' Chancellor John Healey is set to deliver his first Budget on 28 October, facing challenges including rising debt costs and OECD forecasts of slower economic growth (1% compared to a previous 1.1% forecast). The OECD report indicates the UK economy is expected to grow by 1%, slightly below earlier projections. Kyle's comments align with recent statements from other Starmer allies, such as Darren Jones, who argued that governments should be prepared for midterm unpopularity when making difficult structural decisions. Jones emphasized the collective responsibility of backbenchers to support Burnham's government in achieving economic success. The Labour Party faces significant challenges in balancing immediate economic concerns with long-term policy goals, particularly as the government navigates the complexities of implementing the Employment Rights Act, which was passed in December 2025 but has delayed implementation of some provisions until next year. Kyle's remarks reflect a growing internal debate within the Labour Party about the pace and focus of economic policy under Burnham's leadership.

In the UK's case we have actually gone backwards. Under Sunak, we were on the right path. But the AI Security Institute was the beginning not the end.

The Starmer Government's approach was disastrous. We even sided with the US against global cooperation! Unforgivable.

We need to wake up.
