#StatCheck
Statcheck demonstrating its value once again. I detect a p-value inconsistent with reported statistical results in about every third paper I review michelenuijten.shinyapps.io/statcheck-web/

A tool I made, called StatCheck Simple Edition, is being shared on the other site. Might as well share it here too.

Copy in text with statistical tests, and it will use the StatCheck library to show you any inconsistencies. It is also a bit more flexible about formatting than the original.

The temptation to go back & comment "Sailing n00b" on everyone's OSRS #StatCheck Monday posts from yesterday is almost overpowering 😈.

A while ago, Böschen posted a comment on arXiv contending that #statcheck is not a valid tool for error detection. In my reply, I argue that statcheck does exactly what it is designed to do: detect inconsistencies in APA-reported NHST results.

Something a lil different for today's OSRS #StatCheck 📊 Monday, here's the statpage for my HCGIM that I start *tomorrow* for the Frog 🐸 Kissers 😘 Duo Sprint competition 🏆.

Humble beginnings!

Right OSRS, RS3 & Dragonwilds folks, it's time for a post-RuneFest #StatCheck 📊 Monday!

Let's see where you've all got to since last time (or if it's your first time posting your stats!).

As you may have seen I've been at Guardians of the Rift, up to 83 RuneCrafting & 2140 Total Level.

🚨 New #metasci paper with @wicherts.bsky.social, now accepted in AMPPS 🚨

Using #statcheck in peer review is linked to decline in statistical reporting inconsistencies.

Time for another OSRS #StatCheck! I spent most of the last week working on quests and doing a little hunting.

Super happy that I can finally move statcheck to another server! Thanks @seanrife.bsky.social for helping me out with this :)

While I'm setting everything up, there might be some hiccups at statcheck.io. You can still visit the stable michelenuijten.shinyapps.io/statcheck-web/ in the meantime.

Just to clear my name... I am not a noob btw, I just play "the other game" #rs3 #statcheck

Yeah I do need to max already

Implementing statcheck during peer review is related to a steep decline in statistical reporting inconsistencies
osf.io/preprints/ps... #MetaScience The results are credible, suggesting one should use statcheck as a low-level intervention during peer review (or earlier by the authors) 1/

OSRS Leagues #statcheck. I've been kinda slacking, but I'm having fun! Gonna try and max my skills this week

== Effect Size and Confidence Intervals (ESCI) check ==

Lots improved.
Has a revamped website and R package on CRAN.

Works like statcheck, also checks effect sizes and calculates confidence intervals.

Tricky countless edge cases, but after testing it on 1000s of articles, seems pretty decent.

Eight years ago, @adelaisvoranu.bsky.social and I made a card game called Statcheck: The Game for friends who like verifying each other's statistical accuracy!

But what if you don't have any friends?!

The first online version against CPUs is now playable:

Since nobody ever posts good stories about error detection, as a follow-up: The authors got back to me in 24hrs with the raw output, and the numbers were all correct. Statcheck software produced a false positive by failing to account for a Holm correction.

Don't lose faith in science entirely!
I just wanted to show my students how to use Statcheck as a check on papers for typos in statistical reporting and picking a paper at random I have never read off google scholar, and there is an inconsistency in it.

I guess I gotta tell the author now. Literally didn't want this responsibility.
