Staya's full name was inspired by the long name of the Keeper of Clan Lavellan, Istamaethoriel. I decided to call her Staya, but later settled on her full name as Istayalaevna.

I've tried to make each of them unique and if they do feel that way, then I'm glad. Callin is very different in my mind from Aravel, from Staya or Jun or Chance. They all have a separate perspective on Thedas and outlook in general, and I like that.

Generally I have an idea before I started each game the first time. With DAI, I initially made Staya to romance Cullen; as I was playing, I saw more about Dorian and realized I really wanted to play his romance, so I made Aravel. With Veilguard, I was like, eh, Lucanis is most my type ig?
