And while the unit cell looks orthorhombic, integration results say that it is rather not.

Today we were out to the forest with the kids - I finally found a liverwort the wild!

Forked Veilwort.

I'm somewhat relieved that it is basically the most common liverwort so I'm quite sure I didn't mess up my Id🙈.

Some of the weirdest parasitic copepods are in the genus Philichthys. They live inside the skull bones of marine fish. They are so weird that we don’t know what most of their body parts are. There is a male in the vial to the left of the giant female, which is about an inch long 🧪

The next sample was also Cladonia digitata #lichen. This one had more pronounced name giving "fingers" on the podetia.

One of my highlights of the past mushroom season was finding this Dendrocollybia racemosa 🍄📷 It grows in fruiting bodies of Russula species, where it then forms black sclerotia from which the fruiting body grows the next year. I found it growing between a Collybia species with the same ecology.
