Today was a very hard day. But, it was fertile ground for me to practice the Virtues. Amor fati!

We have enough lists of what planets do what and what herb is good for this or that. I want a Paganism that teaches me how to live.

This is a gentle reminder that within your inner citadel, your spirit, your soul, no one can truly harm you. No one can take that from you. Your guiding principle, that inner Fire, always burns, and will always guide you.

may I act with Wisdom, Vision, and Piety.
On this day,
May I act with Courage, Integrity, and Perseverance.
On this day,
may I act with Hospitality, Moderation, and Fertility,
with Justice over all.
May it be so!

The goal: to live in accordance with nature. To live in harmony with the natural order, yes, but also to align our character with the guiding principle of the Cosmos, which is reason.

If someone were to ask me what the first resource I would recommend for a beginning Pagan, I would say anything that helps you develop a code of ethics. This sets you on the path to living excellently, which will begin your journey to living in accord with the Cosmos.

In ADF, we follow the Nine Virtues. I have added a tenth in my own practice, which is Justice. Justice is right-action, and once we step onto that path, the rest of the Virtues open before us so that they may enrich our lives.
