Here's the thing, there's nothing objectively wrong with #StompClapHey bands or bluegrass covers of hip hop songs, but if the ONLY acceptable music is white people cosplaying poverty americana, then that's upholding white supremacy.

Lone Bellow, ... Alive (***): The overall aesthetic is far heftier and far less StompClapHey than I associate, fairly or not, with this outfit. The overall vibe of the songs suggests the album title is a positive sentiment and not one of exhaustion, but they do intermittently justify that choice.

School House, Homeland (***1/2): Second outing for this Canadian trio is one of the more charming and most tuneful entries in the ongoing StompClapHey revival. They're at their best when they aim for full-on singalong refrains that highlight their facility with a melody.

Right that's the effect of the parody but the internal song is blithely optimistic happy happy and I think that's the point vs the actual stompclaphey often being "I visited my dying father and he told me he loved me, it reminded me how much I love you, isn't the sky beautiful?"

While StompClapHey was a bizarre quirk i tolerated for its 18 month lifespan without incident, this trash mystified and enraged me so much, I had no idea it was called Home because i had never stuck around long enough to hear the chorus. #HatedItBeforeItWasCool
