UK Anti-SLAPP Coalition: Speaking out is not a crime - but it's being treated like one #STOPSLAPPS Today marks European Day of Action, representing the first use of the EU Anti-SLAPP Directive in The Netherlands, as Greenpeace International has brought an action against Energy Transfer in response to the North Dakota verdict. The outcome of this case could set a precedent which helps to eliminate the use of abusive lawsuits across Europe. However, it is important to remember that, due to inaction, the UK remains vulnerable to these abusive lawsuits. The Scottish Government is currently undertaking a consultation into SLAPPs, and in light of Greenpeace’s action, we urge the Government to introduce measures which prevent the use of SLAPPs in Scotland.
