#StormBram
The first named storm of the season, #StormAusten passes Ireland tonight. Here's a look back at #StormBram last December.

Bram damaged sections of the Great South Wall, cutting off access to the lighthouse for months.

Stay safe!

Power back here, but not before we got to make cheese toasties by candlelight.

Occasional electrical flickers still, which results in frequent oven-clock-resetting, with the usual pleasure/pain of trying to get it to sync with the microwave...

Watching a tree in our garden wafting in the mild breeze we have here at the moment. The fact that the soil is also wafting is somewhat... unsettling.

Fun lunchtime task: clean all the sea salt deposited on my house windows and on my car thanks to #StormBram

Still processing yesterday's events. The **violence** of that wind: it's absolutely the sort of extreme weather only made possible by dumping much more energy into the atmosphere.

Thermodynamics at work, and it's only going to get worse. #StormBram

This sounds probably odd, but am complaining wiped out emotionally and energy wise after today's #StormBram fun and games.

Already thinking of getting some much needed sleep

My continued admiration for ESB emergency crews: we actually have power this evening after the outage earlier. They're utterly amazing, restoring supply in the absolute worst of conditions #StormBram #Waterford #Speirgorm

In my endearing naïvete/insanity, I thought "oh, once it's calmed down it'll be clear...and I can set up the scope for some imaging."

Lost a big tile, and panels at the worst of #StormBram.

I think they avoided hitting my car, no obvious damage that I can see..

That absolutely should have been a Red weather alert here in #Waterford. The UK Met Office model predicted 130 km/hr gusts for the Waterford coast: a friend has texted that it hit 135 km/hr in Kilsheelin, South Tipp...so it's not unreasonable to assume it was well in the 140s km/hr here #StormBram

It has calmed down from the worst of it: still pretty wild out there. That was a truly scary couple of hours.

Still relying on mobile Internet and saved battery power for the day...

Holy shit, this is horrendous right now. First time that I've actually been "weather scared", ever. #StormBram #Waterford #speirgorm #ireland

It's actually fecking snowing sea foam right now #StormBram #Waterford #Ireland #Speirgorm

Sea wave foam, carried up a 40m cliff and another 30m to land in my backyard #StormBram #Waterford #speirgorm

I have NEVER seen sea conditions like what I can see out my window right now: it's just a wall of white.

And no, am not venturing outside to show you.

Scary and awesome inspiring at the same time. #Waterford #Ireland #speirgorm #StormBram

It's utterly terrifying outside right now: one of my roof tiles came loose, the noise of it coming down along the roof was scary as fuck.

And no, it's not safe to venture outside right now.

I suspect it'll be a long, dark night ahead before power is restored.

And the power has gone here on the Copper Coast: going to be a long day and night ahead #Waterford #StormBram

Slightly wild here on the Copper Coast. And the worst is yet to come. #Waterford #StormBram

Going to be an.. interesting...day here on the Copper Coast.

Pray for my electricity staying on..

Did have 5 minutes this morning to snap the waning gibbous Moon before running off to work.

Definitely will not be getting that opportunity tomorrow morning thanks to #StormBram! #astrophotography #astronomy #ThePhotoHour #speirgorm #ireland

We lost our second tree this calendar year. Lost a massive apparently healthy cherry tree to #StormEowyn in January and last night lost a long-dead hawthorn to #StormBram. In both cases we heard nothing and no secondary damage.
We think the hawthorn below fell in a tribute to Andy Goldsworthy.

Nobody fears #StormBram enough to take down a single Christmas decoration. I'm gonna get impaled by a flying snowflake.
