I’m in a spot with bass and possibly striper, and wanting to try and use these craw or shrimp lures if possible.

What a great day this was, couple nice sea run brookies and a bonus striper, trolling the fly.

The striped bass enjoys an interesting life cycle. It is an anadromous species that is born in freshwater, then makes its way to saltwater to grow and live, then returns to freshwater to spawn. The waters that form the Santee Cooper lakes were part of this life cycle before the dams were completed in the early 1940s. Striped bass that had migrated to spawn were then trapped in the waters of Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie. Biologists initially expected the striped bass to eventually die off, but instead they thrived, and soon the Santee Cooper lakes hosted an outstanding striper fishery, highlighted by the then-world record 55-pound catch by NASCAR driver Tiny Lund in 1963. During the 1960s, biologists with what is now the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources pioneered methods for spawning striped bass, and eventually stripers were shared throughout the country. Soon, fishermen will once again be able to try and catch this fish that helped make the Santee Cooper lakes famous. I didn’t succeed today catching what I think is a striper, but came home and gather some things I had sitting around and got some swim bait heads to try out.

Been here 20+ mins and calling it a break to brainstorm, either wrong hook to lure size, non appetizing lures to sir stripes, or the fact it’s getting warmer
