#StructuralRacism example 432. If white people got “ashy” there would be cocoa butter / body lotion in every hotel room, instead there are hair dryers (and bibles). Jus’ sayin’

Looks like whites are getting a taste of their own medicine in south Africa

isn't it their thing to use structural racism and act as if it's nobody to blame??

doesn't feel good, right?

Racism is everywhere. If you don’t call it out when you see or hear it, you are just as complicit as the person acting or speaking that way.

This. I just read a book on right from a star scholar (who doesn’t study the right) with big name glowing blurbs. It was meh. Then I’m reading research on right from junior scholars and it’s so amazing and I’m not sure they have TT jobs.
There’s more to be said about the relationship between Pinker-style stardom and the state of academia. Not because academia is Woke, but because star systems loosen rigor at the top while solid scholarship becomes a dead end lower down. Shoddy celebrities and broke PhDs proceed from the same machine

3/ Black & brown neurodivergent people don’t get “I didn’t mean it.” We get criminalized.

Our clarity is defiance.
Our overwhelm is threat.
It’s not just personal avoidance. It’s structural violence.

My dream was about Electoral (District Boundaries) Amendment Bill before Parliament and #StructuralRacism by NZ gov'ts past and present not only stealing Māori land but also erasing whakapapa. Has govt ever apologised for generational impacts of uplifts in losing names + records of tamariki?

Really interesting analysis of #covid19 rates not associated with race, per se, but metrics of *structural* racism. Racial importance becomes small once the metrics of #structuralracism - are included https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33469868/
