The field is called stylometry. Someone in the CS or linguistics department may have access to authorship-attribution tools and be able to assist.

There have been recent papers on using large-language-model-aided stylometry to connect people's various online accounts even if those people take every precaution they can to ensure no formal connection (in terms of registration details, what they post about themselves, etc.)
And even if they do change persona after the inevitable happens, there are now sites full of people who have made it their mission to trace people's identities in order to tie them to previous mistakes in their lives.

Someone in computational humanities needs to write a paper about the premise of style/content separation. We've got whole subfields (like "stylometry") that seem to promise you can achieve it, and my sense is that there's a lot of quiet skepticism that hasn't crystallized in explicit statement. +

If you're a state actor you will likely usually have access to more effective means of deanonymisation — device fingerprinting, search warrants to intermediaries, etc. Anyone with such good technical security that a state actor can't identify them has probably thought about stylometry too

Any folks interested in authorship questions in the NT—esp wrt the Pauline epistles—needs to listen to this podcast by folks who have actual expertise in stylostatistical analysis. Too many NT scholars have wielded stylometry w a dilettante understanding of the method they are using.

Sorry I’m speculating re: an emerging consensus. I only stumbled into this to support your point (I thought) about serious scholarship supporting liberation theology over American-style authoritarian belief. I think stylometry of Biblical Hebrew supports a way younger Torah than previously believed

This is 100% the coolest project I have ever worked on. Restoring a Classical work to the canon (or trying, anyway) is pretty much as good as it gets for Stylometry... 😁
The proofs, as they say, are in the pudding, and I am pudding in some proofing time today. Expecting some disagreements but it's been so fun to work on this. And brilliant and humbling to work with @rantyben.bsky.social!
