Landed today in a little harbor town in NorCal near the border with Oregon that’s giving Rhode Island/Connecticut vibes, which I think would surprise all concerned.

Had a chance to walk Chicago's Wild Mile (a floating artificial wetland along the river) with eldest Quinnlet last night and we saw this magnificent beast!

On this penultimate day of #SueWalkstheEarth, I've traveled 8600 miles across the US and Canada (with another 400 to go), and it's inspired a thousand thoughts, a hundred mini-adventures, and has just been everything I'd hoped for.

Despite my best efforts to stay true to the novel I’m working on, my brain has taken this driving opportunity to dream up an entirely new series. #SueWalkstheEarth

In Canada, 100 km/hr is pretty typical on the highway and it's very nice for planning purposes to know that you can go about 100 km in one hour.

It's like... almost as if... this metric system is kinda useful. 😂

Had a wonderful time meeting @johannab@cosocial.ca on my #SueWalkstheEarth tour of SW Ontario... one of the best parts of this whole trip is turning online friends into "real-life" friends 😍

There are an astonishing number of cactuses in Arizona.

This is probably only astonishing to me.

But they low-key freak me out.

I've been traveling across two large countries (US, Canada), dropping subversive #solarpunk lit (zines, books) in Little Free Libraries everywhere...my tracker says I'm up to 28 "check-ins" but that's just the ones I've tracked.

every bit of arts is #resistance keep going

Folds: If we’ve been told our whole lives that we can’t spend money on the arts because they’re not important—then why was taking over the Kennedy Center and the arts the first thing they did?

It is extremely important. It’s the bedrock of self-expression.

One thing the #SueWalkstheEarth epic roadtrip taught me—besides that it's 100% worth bringing your own tea kettle—is the power of wrenching yourself away from the constant drip of horribles and engaging in positive work, a *lot* of positive work, like way more than you think reasonable.

Whatever you’re putting off because the world is uncertain, do it.

Because the world is uncertain.

when I say "places will become unlivable with climate change" people think *far away* in distance and time

but I mean places like Phoenix in 2025 (and it will get worse)

(when I drove through on #SueWalkstheEarth *in June* I couldn't get out fast enough)

I’m so busy having adventures on #SueWalkstheEarth than I haven’t had much time to post about them but…

1–the stark difference, better and worse, between the reality I see across the country and the media is unsettling

2-this is feeding my writer well *so much*

So, about LA, as someone who grew up in CA, went to UCLA, &is visiting family/friends this weekend during #SueWalkstheEarth

I am literally not worried.

Media depicts it as "a war zone"—it is not.
The police *are* rioting against peaceful protesters, trying to agitate.
