Post-Roman migrations did not replace Iberia’s population: arriving groups contributed 12%–22% of ancestry, depending on region and social context, leaving its Roman-era genetic legacy largely intact. doi.org/hcpf8c

Don't just blame it on the Vandals! They may be the usual suspects but Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Huns and Suebi were all seen in the vicinity!

If they want Suebi DNA so badly they should marry a Swabian or whatever

Some Galicians get very upset when they find out they're the people with the most African genes among all Spaniards. Some of them claim to be the descendants of the Suebi, or even to be 100% Celtic 💀

The Suebian knot (German: Suebenknoten) is a historical male hairstyle ascribed to the tribe of the Germanic Suebi. The knot is attested by Tacitus in his 1st century AD work Germania, found on contemporary depictions of Germanic peoples, their art, and bog bodies.

In 694, King Egica of the Visigoths decreed the enslavement and property seizure of all Jewish citizens, citing false allegations of conspiracy with North African allies. This was a peak of Visigothic religious persecution, not a sanitary quarantine. #History

There is one unit per faction that isn't really a unit.

The Suebi call theirs the Grove-Walker. It costs a shrine and most of your population, and no player will ever field two.

Lovely. I'm Portuguese. I have grievances against the Romans, the Suebi, the Vandals, the Alans, the Visigoths, the Moors, the Spaniards, and the French. Are we clear?

The Roman historian Tacitus wrote, in the 1st century: "...among the gods Mercury is the one they [the Suebi, a confederation of Germanic peoples] principally worship..." (wikipedia)

So it seems to me that this was due to not quite accurate interpretation/conflature of Norse and Roman gods.
