Obsidentify tells me (with reasonable confidence) this is Slippery Jack Suillus luteus in the bolete family. On a grass verge in Dorchester.

A bit of a foggy start to the day, and a plethora of Slippery Jack mushrooms (Suillus luteus) on the morning walk…

Me cociné los pejines (suillus) y la verdad que para mí tienen bastante sabor.
La gente de micología decía que no les sabía a nada pero no es mi caso.

Found only two mushrooms at the cemetery today, picked one to take home where the books are. I think it's Suillus grevillei, aka S. proximis or the Larch Bolete, but I have to see the spore print tomorrow to be sure.

Didn't get a good pic before I cut it up to ID, but here.

Those are boletes. Specifically, they belong to the genus Suillus, which are known collectively as slippery jacks or slimy boletes. We have lots of them on our property here on the coast.

Check out this Western Painted Suillus perfectly posing next to their gilled Fungi friend. (Suillus lakei) #FungiFriends

Definitely one of my favorite readily distinguishable species to find. Spotted last weekend at Banner Forest Heritage Park.

Suillus clintonianus - Tamarack Jack

This mushroom brings out both the 12 year old and the nerd in me.
Partially because it's a commonly misidentified mushroom that I enjoy correcting when I can, and also because the name has the word anus in it.

For #fungusfriday four conifer-associated species found recently at Southey Wood near Peterborough - Oyster Rollrim, Dyer's Mazegill, False Chanterelle and Weeping Bolete. False Chanterelle is the only one I've seen before, despite visiting the site frequently over 40 years.

Suillus luteus AKA slippery jack mushrooms take too much prepping to make them edible and even after pealing the caps & removing the poors, they can still cause digestive issues. No thank you.

Probably a Suillus species.
