Even though I think I'll transition to 3D art for tech/ships. These are ment to be in-book graphics whenever I don't put a map crop on a chapter start.

Bane made a swirly gesture, to the left maybe ? Mills started walking around the weird mix of nature and construction-site. The sound of flowing water and the squelching of his feet on the occasional wet moss or dirt echoed off the concrete walls. He reached the stairs and climbed up. It now dawned on him why it was so wet down here. The whole sublevel had flooded. A trickle, or drops on the wall had indicated water on the other side. And of course the hefty metal supports welded to the wall, but only now it made sense. The top of the stairs revealed a waterscape held in by these concrete walls. It stretched far under the building, pierced by rows of concrete columns. Little houses and small forests dotted the edges. Splashes and trickles reverberated off the high concrete roof. Mills could barely turn away, but he had to

Light shone bright down here. How ? D-level stretched barely above the concrete. Why would E-level be like this ? His idea of Beltane and the whole world turned upside down, he had to grab onto a railing to keep steady. "Surprised ?" Bane's question snapped Mills back into it. "Yea, sort of. How long was this lift ride ? We should be far under the concrete ceiling..." - "Well, that used to be the case I think. Maybe you should see for yourself. Come on." Bane led him to a metal walkway, leading away from the lift and plaza. Narrowly winding around load-bearing pillars of concrete and hazard striping. Until they reached a big slit, open to the air, a breeze hit Mills and then he saw it. Like rivers of sunlight, eddying through the razorsharp concrete edged canyons left by the constructors. Distant haze and fog obscured the view, were these sunsails spanning across the urban canyon ? The view vanished behind a giant rusty tank and a labyrinth of pipes as Bane led on through the narrow walkway. Metal clanking below their feet. Mills looked back at Bane's wide shoulders. The bright light left blue noise in his blinking for a bit.

Morning greyed in at 07:30, the main lift column had a few people around, less then a year ago when he started, but maybe it was seasonal ? Mills slapped his card against the lift console pad like every morning. But instead of the ever-same passing pling a raspy horn of denial, emphasized by a red X on the pad, stopped him in his tracks. He almost hit the closed steel door of the lift face-first. People pushed by him to other lifts, led in by their affirmative plings. He tried again, but no dice. The X stayed, and so did the accusing stares of distant co-workers pushing by. A cold sweat came upon him. "Hey, access denied, get away from that lift !" a bullish security guy had been attracted by the uncommon sound. "But, I work here !" Mills tried to explain in an unconvincing stutter.
