1,2: Rigged a structure for peas to climb. Milkweed not yet gone dormant
3: Can’t believe tomatoes growing this late. If they’re happy, don’t sweat it.

Stone circle with V-shaped trellises with paracord tied to creat lattice for plants to climb. Near ground low pea plants not yet to climbing nor flowering stage. Narrowleaf Milkweed has mostly green leaves Detail of peas, straw covered ground, milkweed (including, close to camera, one branch with leaves beginning to yellow) Inside round trellis structure, a tomato forming on the vine (behind which another smaller tomato is visible). In blurry background another round planter with tomato plant is kinda sorta visible. It’s blurry. View low to ground with green fringy leaves of California poppy plant at front and side edges of a stone-bordered garden bed. Elsewhere the bed is covered with mish mash of cut dried stems, and the soil beneath is dark and moist in appearance.

Hi! I’m in SoCal, within about a mile or two from Bowl where that famous football game takes place on New Year’s Day after that big floral thing that goes down the boulevard.

One month ago, I sowed seeds.
The plants, started indoors, have been outside for longer and longer periods (now 24h/day). This weekend they’ll go from seedling trays to their soil homes.

(Got 2 straggler trays tho. This morning spotted a brand new sprout.)

🌱 I am SO enamored of the baby chard sprouts that I am creating a #timelapse of them. Started yesterday, paused it overnight and it’s been going this morning. One image every 15 minutes.

About to sow seeds for my cool weather veg garden #Zone10b #SunsetZone21 SoCal, San Gabriel Valley

Planning the new raised garden beds, cleaned seed trays, filled with seed starting mix.

Tomorrow I sow
5 spinach varieties
4 lettuce
3 arugulas
2 chards
1 collards

Then let garden bed prep begin!

Seed envelopes in bunches clipped together with plastic clothespins. Each set of seed packets also contains white plastic plant identifiers with plant names written in pencil (top one says Spinach Mero Nero). Behind the seasoned packets is a printout of a couple of grids with names of plants on them. Two flat trays containing empty seedling growing containers Same set of seedling containers filled with potting mix. Seedling containers rest on an aged brick patio surface.
