The data breach occurred under Boris Johnson. The superinjunction was put in place under Rishi Sunak, who then kept it in place via the Court of Appeal in 2024. Labour ordered a review then lifted the injunction.

And on the substance of the superinjunction, it’d still be in place were it not for the joint work of so many of my colleagues from across the press. The most important thing is that no govt should ever be able to abuse the courts like it again.

There is a lot of deflection taking place by politicians this morning, suggesting that the court kept the superinjunction in place and that had to be overcome.
That's not true or not complete- the government kept it in place by repeatedly applying for its renewal.

So the fact that outlets *have* reported on Neil Gaiman and haven’t received a takedown notice means that there’s no UK superinjunction in place, barring all reportage.
