#Supercentenarians
*except in supercentenarians, the very small group of people 105+ years of age

Supercentenarians, or people who live beyond age 110, have an unusually high amount of killer immune cells.

Researchers have found that these cells increase and clone themselves after people turn 100—a sign that the immune cells are actively working to combat other harmful cells in the body.

What I find fascinating about most supercentenarians is that they get to about 90 and just plateau. This lady doesn’t look 116 and tbh very few of them do.

This is just brilliant. As soon as they started accurately recording births, the number of supercentenarians plummeted.

A study in Japan found that supercentenarians have higher proportions of cytotoxic CD4 T cells in their blood. These cells remained active and showed clonal expansion, a pattern associated with immune adaptation during advanced age.

it's really frustrating how much research on supercentenarians is essentially fraudulent because you get really cool results like this:

and you can't even be sure they're real because the supercentenarians involved might not even be actual supercentenarians
