If you've tried Pocket TTS, Supertonic, Piper etc and found them a little unresponsive, even the Samsung Galaxy voices, seriously give Phonon a try. It's way more performant than most neural/human TTS engines you're likely to have tried before.

Most ebooks don't have an audiobook, so I taught Parrot to read any book aloud with neural voices running on the phone. No server, no GPS voice from 2009.

Try out chatterbox if you get a chance. I was also using supertonic which is insane in that it can run really quickly on cpu. Problem is that the 'voice profiles' are essentially embeddings and that's the part you had to pay for (back when you could). Could be worth it to try replicating embeddings

I almost bought a TTS server for Access Free Tools. I checked the browser before buying one. Kokoro sounded better in English; Supertonic handled more languages. I wrote up the Edge stall, fix, and MP3 download: accessfreetools.com/blog/browser... #TTS
