obsessed and horrified at how abyssmally slow nearly *all* of the current storms are travelling at

*supertyphoon* Surigae is the fastest moving one, and even that seems to be moving like molasses????

Here is something I wrote after the Category 5 Supertyphoon Sinlaku hit my islands in April:
A screenshot of my keep notes I wrote post-typhoon Sinlaku. Its quite long, entitled: Notes from Sinlaku - when 50 hours felt like forever (the storm moved 3-5 mph so it lasted long). 50 hours felt like forever. I tasted desperation, exasperation and exhaustion all mixed up in the floodwaters as I mopped doors and windows, and more windows, again and again and again. I found myself falling into a fitful sleep of dripping alertness as I lay on the carpeted floor of my bedroom at 3 am, both the carpet and I half-rolled up, knees tucked up underneath us, tired of the wet's persistence. It was ridiculous. Even elder trees bent to prostrate themselves before the winds and the rain. The wind donned the rain, the rain put on a coat of salt spray and ran screaming angrily into the trees and fields, residences and roadways of our islands, first from the East, then the South, then all directions at once. This angry wind, made out of the collective exhalations of the world's wars. When the door whistled, we knew it meant trouble. Endless mopping, endless wringing, the twisting of the rags matched the twisting of our hearts at our fate. We hid our faces from the night and day, parked our cars the furthest in we could, released our expectations and held on to each other. We prayed for the animals and reefs we couldn't take in and keep safe in our shirts. The rain was so thick with debris and wind it was one--wind and rain and debris formed a marvolous monstrous entity that stalked between houses and terrorized anxious dogs and cats for four days and 50+ hours, listening for the sound of total disaster outside, ears straining to tell the difference between the screaming wind and a screaming human, just in case. Just in case. The dogs were tired after, they slept the sleep of victors who just barely won by holding on. Falling mango trees, fruits and flowers buried us in their cries. No mango season would be found. A drought would follow. If I needed advice, it would be:

Supertyphoon Category 4 to 5 called BAVI , will arrived in Taiwan and China between this coming Saturday or Sunday, its accelerates slow but very powerful, I just hope there will be no casualties, they say it's the Strongest Southeast Asian typhoon this year. 🥺🫢😢
