its actually unerring.
The Ramayana's racial politics bothered me even as a kid; the framing of the people of Lanka as rakhsasas; but also the treatment of Surpanakha was shocking.
The Mahabharata on the other hand: everyone is a sinner, everyone pays. Exactly the kind of moral fable it should be.
In my experience, for many Indians, the most reliable cultural test is: Ramayana or Mahabharata? This has genuinely never failed me lol.

The racial supremacy; the notion that Ram is any kind of hero, the horrendous treatment of Surpanakha for the sin of desire, the way he judges his wife when people gossip about her "virtue" all of it is very much not my thing.

Today I finished THE LIBERATION OF SITA by Volga, tr from Telugu by T Vijay Kumar & C Vijaysree. Brilliant filling in of blanks around Sita, from the Ramayana, showing the once-naive heroine encountering, learning from other women in the epic: Surpanakha, Renuka Devi, Urmila, Ahalya. 1/2

Maximum books I have read from a single author is 4.
Author: Kavita Kane
Her books throw spotlight on auxiliary female Indian mythological characters through fictional lens.
For e.g. Urmila, Menaka, Ahilya, Surpanakha.

sacred symbolism.

A woman’s body is not a moral category.

Sita’s character is defined by her actions, values, courage, loyalty and dignity—not simply by how much fabric she wears.

Likewise, Śūrpaṇakhā should not need to be sexualized through costume merely to communicate

I get back on stage in ten days after a two-year hiatus from theatre. It's pretty intense breathing iconoclastic life into characters from the Ramayana, Surpanakha and Tara. Lots of flinging myself about besides.Trying not to hyperventilate, also icing my knees. 😬

Yoke vs Rake is set up to correspond to Yoke: Sita (of Rama, of Ayodhya, in what’s now north India (Uttar Pradesh)) vs Rake: Surpanakha/Chandranakha (sister of Ravana, of Lanka)

Apparently another village in Uttar Pradesh claims to be the birthplace of Ravana

Zoom-in on the loadout I used for solo grinding. Healer mimic was the way to go since Pomcure is just so convenient.

Much of this depends on order of acquisition, which is primarily

Overworld
-> Important Spells from Dungeons
-> Important Spells from Lower Level 8mans
-> Everything Else

For Phase 2's golems, you need OGCD spells that can hit multiple golems before they have the chance to merge or absorb any of the meteors; the AOE primal spells from the ARR Trials work here, and with some grinding you can also perhaps get Surpanaka from Ravana to make life easier.

while Śūrpaṇakhā is portrayed as morally inferior through revealing clothing, the message becomes troubling: modesty is good, sensuality is evil.

But Hindu art has never been that simple.
