Unemployed Australians are Australians. There’s no reason for their government to bully them, other than perpetuating the bludger myth.

When suggestions of royal commissions, etc., come up politicians bat them away as ineffectual, but then continue to do nothing, or cut funding for crisis services. When will the deaths of women and children, of elderly and vulnerable people matter enough to force meaningful action on housing?

Even if you ignore the physical health impacts of poverty, our below-poverty payments and punitive mutual obligations systems are killing people.
