Sorry for my lateness! Brain continues to be scattered. Let's talk atmosphere!

Atmosphere adds a lot to suspense. How do you set the scene for your characters? What important repeating elements set the tone in your atmosphere?

Let's talk foreshadowing! How do you build it into your work?

Do you keep it subtle? Do you have plans on how to weave it through? Do you find out when your characters do? Let's talk about it!

I love cliffhangers. I use them constantly. @ellielieberman.bsky.social calls me the cliffhanger queen. 🤣

Love 'em or hate 'em, cliffhangers are common when it comes to suspense.

Cliffhangers are a powerful tool to keep readers turning the page. How do you use them? When is the best time to use them? Let us know your thoughts!

I do. They can be a lot of fun. I love characters you are sure are the bad one, but aren't.

Do you typically use red herrings in your work? What's your favorite type to use?

Is it a lying character? A suspicious object? Some sort of direction that leads your characters astray? 👀

Centuries after Anastasia was murdered on her wedding night, she's now a Skeleton leading the rebellion against her murderer, known as the Grim Reaper.

As Vivian's visions finds herself drawn to the war, she might be the key to saving the world.

#Sustember This year, I read Pretty Dead Queens by Alexa Donne and it's a good example of suspense in a murder mystery. You definitely won't see the twist coming!

One of my faves is Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I love how atmospheric her books are. That definitely helps feed into the suspense and dread.

Rappaccini's Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorne - Man falls in love with next door neighbor & her lovely garden. She's not what he thinks she is.

The Interlopers by Saki - Two warring enemies are trapped beneath a tree, forcing them to talk and make amends. Then the shock comes.
