I just spoke with NOAA public affairs person who confirms that the GML site is down to "scheduled 5-year maintenance of the electrical switchgear" at lab site in Boulder, and will be back online by 6pm MST today.

I wrote this piece back in May. Good to see it being shared widely again. Screens were fitted to make cars look techy when, in fact, their main benefit was to auto makers because they were far far cheaper than physical switchgear.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

Construction manager here. Data centers are also causing delays in unrelated projects because they are sucking up all the switchgear. Currently running 9-12 months out on procurement for our school projects. Districts are paying big $$ to expedite production or get better dates. Your tax dollars.
